first shipment of books on their way to bundibugyo!

Enthusiasm for Books for Bundi has sparked in the Nashville, Tennessee area! Led by the energetic Cilla Crane, three trunks of books have been packed and are en route to Uganda. Two other trunks of books are being hand delivered by WHM summer interns this week!

What can you and your community do to get involved with Books for Bundi?

1. Start collecting books!
Children's picture storybooks, board books, short chapter books

2. Ship them to WHM Books for Bundi, PO Box 1142, Bundibugyo Uganda
OR Contact booksforbundi@gmail.com to request information about anyone traveling from US to Bundi to hand deliver them.

The children are ready to read! The books are filling the shelves!

books for bundi

Some of the best ideas begin on the front porch.
When the neighbor children come over to our house to play, they want to do one thing:

Read Books.

The closest library is a rough three-hour journey over the mountains. And even then, it is one small room with a handful of books.

 We want to change that.

The idea is simple.

Provide a safe and quiet environment where children can interact with books.

Provide quality children’s books and volunteers who will read with and tell stories to children.

Bundibugyo is in western Uganda. Marked by disease, high infant and child mortality rates, poverty, and war, it is an area in need of hope.

Books comfort, inspire, and open new worlds to children.

In partnership with World Harvest Mission, “Books for Bundi” seeks to create a Children’s Reading Room. But we need your help.

What do we have?

Eager Children

Ready Volunteers

Partnership with Local Literacy Leaders

Available Room

Empty Bookshelves

What do we need?

Books!
